Move to Orvix without the outage

A staged migration with verification gates: prepare everything in Orvix first, prove it works, then point your DNS at us.

The five stages

The same discipline as onboarding: explicit states, no silent steps.

  1. Assess

Inventory domains, mailboxes, aliases, and what your current provider actually holds.

  2. Prepare

Set up your Orvix account, verify domain ownership, and create matching mailboxes.

  3. Migrate

Move mailbox data from your current provider using standard mail protocols and tooling.

  4. Verify

Confirm mailboxes, folders, and DNS states in Orvix before anything points at us.

  5. Cut over

Update DNS to Orvix, watch verification turn green, and keep the old provider until you are sure.

Typical starting points

IMAP mail providers

Mailbox data moves over standard protocols. Folders and messages come with you.

Hosting-bundled email

Leave the cPanel-style mailbox behind while your website stays exactly where it is.

Other business mail

Domain by domain, mailbox by mailbox, verified before each cutover.

Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, and Zoho sources connect over OAuth; cPanel-style hosting and other providers connect over standard IMAP. If your source needs special handling, say so when you contact us and we will scope it honestly.

What good looks like before cutover

  • Domain verified. Ownership TXT found; service provisioned and active.
  • Mailboxes created. Every address that must receive mail exists in Orvix.
  • DNS green. Orvix independently confirms every published record resolves.
  • Data moved. Historical mail in place; Webmail tested on real mailboxes.

Migration questions

Do you offer one-click automated migration?

Supervised automation, yes — unsupervised one-click, no. The Migration Center in your portal runs the move as a managed job: connect your current provider, review the discovered mailboxes, map them to Orvix mailboxes, then watch real per-mailbox progress with pause, resume, and retry. Verification gates still apply before cutover, and your DNS changes only when you approve them.

Can I migrate from cPanel-style hosting or another IMAP provider?

Those are the typical starting points: standard mail protocols make mailbox data portable. Tell us your setup on the contact page and we will plan the stages with you.

Will my email go down during the move?

The staged approach exists to avoid that: Orvix is fully prepared and verified before your DNS points here, and the old provider stays until you confirm.

What about my domain’s existing DNS?

Orvix shows the exact records to publish and verifies them independently. Other records (website, services) stay untouched at your DNS provider.
